Our Pit Bull design has gotten a lot of great feedback from drillers, and as such, we've incorporated it into all of our blades. This has lead to many customers wondering if Pit Bull blades are compatible with OEM transmitter housings from brands like Vermeer and Ditch Witch. Well, we're not going to keep you waiting — the short answer is yes. Even though we think you should consider non-OEM HDD parts, you absolutely can use a Pit Bull-compatible blade with an OEM transmitter housing for HDD. However, there is a little more to it than that.

What Exactly Are Pit Bull Blades?

Pit Bull blades are any Melfred Borzall blades that are compatible with the Pit Bull design. This revolutionary design features holes in the blade that match up with dowel pins in the directional drill housing.

What Can the Pit Bull Design Do for You?

When combined with Pit Bull housings, Pit Bull blades will "never let go." Since the dowel pins offer a 100% increase in shear load capacity, they won't break or shear off. That means:

  1. Your bolts last longer.
  2. You don't have to worry about bolts rattling loose.
  3. You're less likely to lose a blade downhole from bolts shearing.
  4. You'll save time and money.

Our Pit Bull Blades Do Work with OEM Transmitter Housings — Just Not with the Full Might of the Pit Bull

Melfred Borzall cares about drillers, and we put a lot of thought into offering products and HDD replacement parts that can help everyone on the jobsite. With that in mind, we've made sure that our Pit Bull blades are compatible with OEM transmitter housings for Vermeer and Ditch Witchdrilling rigs. That being said, to take full advantage of the Pit Bull design, you'll need a Pit Bull HDD transmitter housing as well. The holes that are in Pit Bull blades are made to line up with the dowel pins in the Pit Bull housings — but that doesn't prevent them from fitting onto any other type of directional drill housing.

Additionally, the HDD pins in the housing are removable, so you can still use Pit Bull housings with non-Pit Bull blades. Ultimately, any product that is compatible with the Pit Bull system will still work with OEM transmitter housings and blades, and it'll have the incredible strength of a Borzall. But imagine a Pit Bull blade and housing together. When the two are combined, you'll end up with an unstoppable HDD machine.
